Moira (40s/50s/60s) is an enigmatic force with zero tolerance for bullshit. If she seems like she is a know-it-all, that's because she does know it all.

She is a therapist with years of experience and a brand new book based on her experiences called the Tribe of Light, and a newly converted motel in Texas that now serves as a wellness retreat.

Plus, Moira has quite literally been through death and back.
At first pronounced dead alongside her husband and young daughter due to Legionnaires disease contracted from their public tap water, Moira miraculously survives and mends her grief through her therapy work, books, and retreat.

Moira's achilles heel is her assistant Titus, whom she met while recovering at the hospital. She mechanically trusts him to help her run the retreat, the Tribe of Light, opened to help people reach their highest potential as she conducts research for her second self-help book.

She is a resilient, intelligent force who is able to connect with people in a personable way, a modern day superwoman whose love for humanity and goals of making the world a better place one person at a time blind her from the potential evils of men---or one man in particular.

With Titus’ advice to spread her inspirational story to the downtrodden of America, Moira sets off on a motivational speaking tour where she hopes to enlighten and embolden neglected communities using her self-help book as a tool to empower individuals to break free from tyrannical social systems and find the light within.

Titus' harsh life circumstances and struggle with Tourettes have made him a power hungry monster, but one in sheep's clothing. Slowly, but surely, he succumbs to darkness using Moira’s following as an opportunity to garner his own personal agenda. Always strategic, Titus wears many different hats to cater to people’s expectation of him, often identifying their strengths and weaknesses before they can do it themselves. A natural performer, he plays the part in order to get what needs..
Titus is an opportunistic fraud and uses Moira's method, speeches, and even personality traits as an opportunity to garner his own agenda. His sharp tongue, generosity, and optical optimism provide the makings of a cult leader, who uses truth and self-improvement training as a lure to gain people's trust and devotion. Fooling everyone that his intentions are pure, what he desires more than anything is power in response to being powerless for most of his life.

Like all well intentioned movements, some individuals will inevitably detract from the progress that’s been made by using the cause for their own selfish gain. Titus is like salt in your coffee--you think it’s sugar until you taste it.
BACKSTORY: Titus was born into a strict, white nationalist protestant family and the son of a minister who used abuse as a form of discipline and control over his entire family. Because he was the product of sexual abuse, he received little affection from his mother and often rocks himself as a habit to self soothe. After his mother witnesses his father sexually abusing him and turning a blind eye, Titus sets fire to his family’s farm, thereupon killing his parents. The investigation concludes that the fire was accidental in nature and Titus walks free of all charges, garnering sympathy, particularly Moira's, when the story hits the media.
